Question of the Week
Dear Molly,
The college gears are turning and stress levels are rising. I’m not applying to any early decision or action schools. All six of my college choices are going to be regular decision. When is a good time to have all my applications finished? I’m starting to stress about when I’m going to finish. Many of my classmates have already sent in regular decision applications. What time should I be set in stone?
Sincerely,
Otis
Dear Otis,
Like most college-bound seniors, your stress levels are at peak now. Take a deep breath, and I promise, once you get past this part the worst is over. A good date to have all of your college materials in is by December 1st. This is a reasonable and realistic date. During Thanksgiving break, you’ll have a few free days to work on college applications, such as putting the finishing touches on your essay, etc. Then, once you get back from break, you can check in with your guidance counselor and see if you have everything, and she can check to see if there is anything that you need to change on your application. By December 1st, you should be all set. Be sure once you send out your information to e-mail or call the colleges to make sure that they received your materials.
Sincerely,
Molly
